The Mumbai Attacks: Two Weeks Later

9 Dec

The only telephone conversation that I had with a Pakistani leader since the attack on Mumbai was on the evening of November 28 when I spoke to the Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who was then in New Delhi.

- Pranab Mukherjee, Indian External Affairs Minister, as he insisted he had not made a threatening phone call to Pakistan’s president after the Mumbai attacks.

Come join us Wednesday 10 December at 7PM in CAS 326 as we take on the role of the Indian National Security Council in an engaging discussion arising from November’s terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

Also, congratulations to Tanay Khandelwal, who was elected the BU Model UN Secretary for the Spring 2009 semester. We wish Vasuda Nandu, the current secretary who will study abroad in Singapore next semester, the best of luck!

Change.gov: The Transition Team

3 Dec

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.

President-Elect Barack Obama

Since his victory in the November 2008 elections, Obama and his advisors have been hard at work vetting candidates for cabinet and other executive branch decisions, as well as determining the priorities and types of topics Obama will consider in his agenda. Join us this Wednesday 3 December at 7pm in CAS 326 as we simulate Obama’s Transition Team.

Also, don’t forget that after Wednesday’s meeting, we will hold Secretary elections! In addition, applications for our travel conference to McGill in January are due Sunday night. Check your email for the application, or drop us a line at modelun@bu.edu if you want but don’t have the application!
