About the Travel Team

The BUIAA Travel Team is branch of the club that offers training in Model UN-related skills to our members and sends delegates to compete at the most elite collegiate conferences on the Model UN circuit. Currently ranked 9th in the country, the team consistently brings home individual and delegation awards from the conferences we attend.

The Travel Team consists of a general Travel Team, which all members of BUIAA, regardless of Model UN experience or competitiveness, are invited and encouraged to join.

The Travel Team will have workshops every Tuesday night, from 8:30 – 10 PM. On one Saturday per month, we will hold a two- session committee simulation, with the first session from 10 AM – 12 PM, and the second session from 12:30 – 2:30 PM. These workshops offer useful instruction and practice in such areas as research, public speaking, writing, and team building.

Members of the Travel Team can apply for each specific Conference Team, which travel to compete at other conferences on the circuit at a subsidized cost. Selection for these teams is highly competitive and demands outstanding talent and dedication to the Travel Team.

The Travel Team works to train each and every delegate. Only a select number of individuals can attend each conference, and the Head Delegate and BUIAA Eboard have full discretion in choosing conference teams. When choosing team members, the Head Delegate will look at a variety of factors, including:

  • attendance of Travel Team trainings
  • participation in Travel Team trainings
  • overall attitude
  • topical and regional specialty
  • committee size
  • follow through of commitments to other BUIAA programs

If a delegate ever feels that they were overlooked in the selection process, we encourage him/her to directly contact the Head Delegate. Above all, the Travel Team is that- a team, and every member should feel a part of it.
