Welcome to Students for the United Nations
Students for the United Nations (SUN) connects students to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through service, advocacy, fundraising, and education. As BUIAA's service and advocacy branch and a campus chapter of the United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA), students engaged with SUN will gain a deeper understanding of the impact of global affairs on everyday lives, the UN's role in progressing towards a more equitable society, and the tools needed to enact social change on both local and global stages.
SUN partners closely with advocates in the Greater Boston Area throughout the school year to promote the UN Sustainable Development Goals . Previous opportunities have included meeting with Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley's District Office to advocate for increased UN funding, volunteering to reduce waste in Boston's public parks, serving in local food pantries, and discussing the local impacts of denuclearization on local communities with ICAN, the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize recipient.
This year, SUN is refocusing on connecting with both local and global service movements, with an emphasis on fundraising, volunteering, and generating discussions on SDGs that are important to the student body and the Greater Boston Area.
If you are interested in learning more about SUN, please contact the Director or follow them on Instagram for updates on opportunities to engage.
